DeadFish Herpetological
Photographs of Activities, The Science of Life, Session II, Week 2
Monday, August 9th:  Today we performed a
population study of some human traits that can be
inherited from your birth parents.  First we worked
together to learn about the traits we were finding out
about by interviewing Randy, Tam, Chris, Cat and
Brent.  Next we went out into the wild to study other
humans (who gave us permission).  We gathered
information on eye color, tongue curling, interlaced
finger pattern, hair type, and ability to taste PTC.

Tuesday, August 10th: Today
we went to the Franklin Park
Zoo for the last time.  Our
groups got to finish the budgie
feeding observations and see if
we had done a good job listing
characteristics for our zebras we
observed.  Afterward each
group went to see things they
hadn't before or back to things
that were their favorites.
Wednesday, August 11th:  Today we observed
behaviors in
Betta splendens (fighting fish).  We
tracked their vision by moving a female and male
closer together.  Then we tested to see if they
would respond to a picture and if they could
recognize their reflections.  We also colored some
paper fish that we will test tomorrow.
some fish started noticing each other at 30 cm, but most needed to be closer
when next to each other both male and female puff up and swim sideways
